From Barnstaple go along the A39, and then the A399, towards Blackmoor Gate. About quarter of a mile before Blackmoor Gate you will see a brown sign for Wistlandpound. Turn left here, and shortly you will come to Wistlandpound
At Wistlandpound, there are two trails aimed at people of all abilities and ages. These trails enables buggies and wheelchair users and those with limited mobility to enjoy a popular beauty spot.
This major new countryside heritage attraction consists of a 2 km all-ability Discovery Trail, around part of the Wistlandpound reservoir. There is also a 2km Challenge Trail, with the UK’s first exercise trail for wheelchair users.
These are beautiful purpose built walk around Wistlandpound Reservoir. The path way is wide and level gravelled and it goes right down to the water's edge. There is a variety of flora, fauna and birds to see.
There is an accessible bird hide. There are also educational boards around the walk and activity stations tailor made for those with a disability. There is also a pegoda on the water's edge - the perfect place for a packed lunch!
