If you are traveling by car, turn off the A38 at Exeter Racecourse and follow the brown signs for Haldon Forest Park. The Haldon Gateway Car Park is signposted further along the road on the left. For Sat Nav users the postcode isEX6 7XR
The Haldon Gateway Car Park is a wooded car park with plenty of room for parking and with access to 30 miles of trails.
Beside the Gateway Car Park is:
- The 'Hub', where you will find the start of many of the trails.
- A play area
- Toilets and a shower
- The Ranger's Office & Fist Aid post
- The Centre for Contemporary Art and the Natural World
- Weekend caterers the Green Box Food Co
- Forest Cycle Hire.
A short distance away you'll also find picnic tables dotted amongst the trees allowing you to enjoy a picnic. The car park is open from 8.30am until 4.30pm daily.
From here you can access the Play Trail. The Play Trail is for everyone. There are fun features along the route from hidden dens to climbing frames, designed to ensure that kids don't even realise that they are actually on a walk.
The trail uses the 'Access for All' standard suitable for wheelchairs and prams, and there are regular resting points
You can also park in the Mamhead Car Park. From this car park you can enjoy a flat stroll to a spectacular view over the Exe Estuary and beyond. The trail is about a mile in length and is easily accessible for pushchairs and wheelchairs.
Please note there are no toilets at this car park.
