Liss Riverside Railway Walk

LOCALITY: Liss Forest, Hampshire
DISTANCE: 2 miles (3.22 km)
FACILITIES: There & back, Parking, Pub

GRADIENT: Mostly flat
OS MAP: Haslemere & Petersfield

Walk description:

Park in the Car Park just out side the 30 mph speed limit for Liss Forest on the Greatham road.
Cross the road and follow the track through the gate in a SW direction. This track is about a mile long and will bring you out into Liss. Return via same route.

Additional notes:

The surface is a good hard gravel track but gets mucky after rain due to the leaf mold on top of it. The really rough parts are the 3 foot bridges spanning the stream as these are uneven railway sleepers. There is a pub in Liss if you turn left when you reach the road at the further end. There is a cafe open week day lunch times only in the Triangle Community Centre which is beyond the pub up Mill Rd on the corner of Rake Rd. At the further end of the track you will see the old Liss railway station platform and the enormous concrete buffer at the end of the line. Most of the walk you are in shade so ideal for a hot sunny day. This is a nature reserve.
