Walk description:

On the Clanfield to Warnford Road look for the gate which opens with a RADAR key to provide access to approx. 3 parking places. The gate is just SE of the disabled parking bays in the layby which is SE of the main car park.
There is now a gravelled track to follow leading to the old hill fort. Once there follow the grassy path through the old hill fort then round the northern perimeter to make a short circular (balloon) route. Follow the 'string of the balloon' back to the car. Don't forget to stop and look at the magnificent views.

Additional notes:

A fascinating place to visit from many aspects. Old hill fort with tumuli. Wonderful wild flowers. Beautiful butterflies. Magnificent views nearly all the way around with an indicator telling you what you are looking at. Plus an old trig point. Avoid the path round the southern side of the hill fort as at the further end it devolves into a very narrow and steep ascent.
The old hill fort is on the South Downs Way which runs along the chalky ridge following the south coast which means the drainage is good after rain.
Don't be confused by the name, this walk is approx. 12 miles east of the city of Winchester.
There are 2 seats available; one halfway to the hill fort and the 2nd upon reaching the hill fort.
