Walk description:

NB. There is a small section where the footpath is a little narrow and is only suitable for narrow buggies. This part of the route also uses a footpath across a field and in winter, during and after bad weather the field may be muddy and not suitable to use. As an alternative you could continue along Hayes End to pick up the rest of the route. The walk starts from the car park off of the corner of St. James Street and Prigg Lane. From here come out of the car park and turn right to head up St. James Street and follow as the road bends round the corner and cross over Silver Street. Carry on up St. James Street until you reach North Street. Cross North Street and walk along the pavement up Palmer Street. After a short distance cross over Palmer Street and walk down the narrow pedestrian street George Street, to bring you out on the square of South Street. Cross over the square and turn right to walk round the church and turn left down Hele Lane. Continue to follow Hele Lane as it crosses over the stream that is a ford on the road (there is a pavement so you don't have to walk through the ford). Continue along Hele Lane and follow it as it curves round to South Street. At South Street turn right and walk along South Street until it reaches Cole Lane. Turn left and head up Cole Lane and continue until you reach Hayes Lane. Just at the top of Cole Lane is a footpath on the other side of the road where the path runs beside the playing fields. Continue until the footpath comes out onto some fields, and then continue ahead on the footpath between the fields. Then follow the footpath as it bends round to the left to reach Bridge Way. At Bridge Way turn left and walk along the road, taking care of any traffic as there isn't a pavement along this road. Continue until you reach the crossroads and continue ahead down Harvey Road and back to the car par.

Additional notes:

There are pubs and cafes in South Petherton if you should wish to enjoy any refreshments.
