Walk description:

Horton Country Park covers an area of approximately 400 acres. Within this there is a golf and equestrian centre and also a farm.

Horton was a medieval manor in a previous life in the northwest of the parish of Epsom. In the 1890's the estate was purchased by the London County Council, who placed a series of large psychiatric hospitals on the land. The hospitals had their own farms, West Park Farm and Long Drove Farm and these were later purchased by Epsom and Ewell Borough Council in 1973 and the it became Horton Country Park.

The main car park for access to walk/cycle and explore is off Horton Lane towards the southern end of the Country Park.

Once you have parked you can try out a number of walking routes, all of which have hard surfaces and are suitable in all weathers. If you have an older child with you, I would suggest taking their bike as the route is also part of a cycle trail.

Additional notes:

Parking is free and there is disabled parking available. Right by the car park you will find an information board and the toilets. These are very basic.

There are picnic areas and the opportunity to hire a barbecue.

This walk was ideal for dogs and we say many on route. There are also plenty of horses to look at in the fields alongside the trail.

For more information about the park please call 01372 743984 or visit their web site http://www.hortoncountrypark.co.uk.
