Walk description:

Head to East Grafton on the A338. Turn down the road signposted to Crofton Bean Engine (Brown signs).

Down long narrow road for about 1 mile
Come to T junction with bridge on your right
Turn left heading to Burbage and there is a lay-by with parking for approx 3 cars.

You are going to go left on the canal path (path is gravel rather than grass) You will come to lock 58 and the first bench is dedicated to Sam Farmer.

The path is gravel based till just past lock 55 – after this you will have to continue on grass which is a bit more bumpy.

There are several nice spots and benches to stop at and have a picnic. When you have gone far enough simply come back the same way.

Additional notes:

This is a really beautiful walk and is a fantastic chance to look at wildlife. The path is also used by cyclists.

You could explore the canal a bit further, however be warned that the surface turns into grass and some buggies and wheelchairs could experience difficulties.
