Sunderland River Walk (North Side)

LOCALITY: Sunderland, Northumberland
DISTANCE: 2.5 miles (4.02 km)
FACILITIES: There & back

GRADIENT: A few ups & downs
TERRAIN: Easy
OS MAP:

Walk description:

Start the the St Peter's Metro Station, walk down the bank to the river side and basically follow it.

Additional notes:

The entire route is pathed, you also pass behind the Stadium of Light and see the sculptures on the hill, there are also the old pit tunnels (gated and secure!) to look in as well as various tributes etc to the miners who worked at the colliery. Ends at the Riverside Retail Park. But you can continue on along the riverside all the way to Washington Wildlife Park but that is about an additional 3 miles and I'm not entirely sure of the terrain
